Dry, fresh aromas of red fruits set up a tight, sinewy palate with little to no fat. Direct, hard-hitting flavors of cherry and berry fruits are what they are. Overall, this is a forward wine with low amounts of spice and complexity.
Cabernet Sauvignon is grown almost everywhere in the world, but despite this it seems to have become synonymous with California. And while California makes some excellent expressions of this grape, don’t let that keep you from exploring other regions. Today for example we have an excellent example of Cabernet from the land of Malbec — Mendoza, Argentina.

Of a sound velvet and tannin structure, elegant as well, which give a long final mouth tasting.

An excellent assemblage is achieved by the aromas of chocolate, smoke and tobacco. In the mouth, it is intense and complex with a long persistence, sweet and round tannins, and pleasing textures.

Clear medium ruby appearance. Clean nose of flower, rose, red fruit, oak, leather and slight barnyard. It is dry with medium plus acidity, medium tannins, medium plus body. In palate can get mocha, coffee, black fruits and sweet spice. The finishing is medium plus.

In the mid Uco Valley county of Tunuyan, the Andes mountains kick in to east, bringing them much closer to the vineyards. At 4,000 ‘ elevation lies the district of Los Chacayes which boasts very rock, limestone rich soils. This soil profile produces Malbec with delicate floral aromas, deep blue fruit flavours and a salty mineralogy. The wine is co-fermented with 10-12% Cabernet Franc for additional complexity.

The Uco Valley is located 30 miles to the south, southwest of the city of Mendoza. Altitudes range from 3,700’ to 5,000’ elevation. This soil profile produces Malbecs with intense floral aromatics, dark fruit flavors, rich texture and a bright, fresh finish – mountain soil Malbec.
