Château d’Issan is a Third Growth of the 1855 Imperial Classification. The wine is made from the old vines in the Château d’Issan enclosure in the middle of the Margaux appellation. The soil here is mainly made up of surface gravel on top of a clay subsoil, which contributes to optimal ripeness and freshness in our two grape varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Château d’Issan expresses the exquisite bouquet so characteristic of Margaux, and stands out with its suppleness, subtlety, elegance and long keeping potential that come from its unique terroir. Château d’Issan is aged in barrels for 16 to 18 months, half of which are new. Annual production is around 100,000 bottles.
Suave and polished with a supple, smooth, plum and chocolate character, the finish is long and refined. The wine was produced from a blend of 94% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc and is aging in 50% new, French oak barrels.
Ripe red fruits on the nose, with a definite aroma of strawberry, red currant. The wine is supple on the palate, which brings out the ripe fruity aromas. Overall it is expressive, generous, well balanced with a very chic tannic structure. Easy to drink.
Alter Ego is a spontaneous uninhibited wine, soft and round as soon as it has finished barrel ageing. Its lush aromas and supple tannins make it a wine that can be appreciated in the first years after bottling. Well-integrated wood smoke intermixed with notes of creme de cassis, earth, and forest floor are found in this opulent, deliciously fruity, round, and sensual effort.
Chateau Palmer is one of the vintage's superstars. This is a great wine from Margaux in 2012 and one of the vintage's most remarkable efforts. Anticipated maturity: 2022-2040+. The final blend was 48% Merlot, 46% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot.
Located in Soussans to the north of the village of Margaux, the estate is owned by the Luze family. This is a fine wine, full of black fruits and firm tannins. It also has a softer perfumed side that is typical of Margaux. With this combination and the ripe berry fruits, the wine is sure to age well. With a floral, earth and plum-filled nose with a licorice and tobacco kick at the end, this wine has just enough fresh, dark, red fruits that transpire just when you need them .
