The Islay representative in the 'Classic Malts' series is a deep, dry and exceptionally peaty bruiser. Probably the most pungent of all Islay malts, Lagavulin is not for the faint-hearted but inspires fanatical devotion in its many followers.
The original Laphroaig, distilled the same way today as when Ian Hunter invented it over 75 years ago. In making Laphroaig, malted barley is dried over a peat fire. The smoke from this peat, found only on Islay, gives Laphroaig its particularly rich flavour. Those enjoying the 10 Year Old will first notice the bold, smoky taste, followed by a hint of seaweed and a surprising sweetness. This full-bodied variant is the foundation of all Laphroaig expressions and comes with a long finish.
Laphroaig Quarter Cask offers an irresistible doubling of flavour, due to the double maturation in two barrels made of American oak.On the nose the sensation is toffee and caramel, caused by the vanillas and tannin of the American oak, plus a dryness from the wood oil. The finish is long and alternates between this sweetness and smoke.
Formerly known as Fine Oak, Triple Cask is part of the 2018 relaunch of the Macallan range. This has been aged for a total of 12 years in a combination of sherry and bourbon casks.. Spicy oak and golden malt lend a good balance to the sweet opening notes. The palate is soft, with Medium, balanced with fruit, oak and spices, rich and sweet with plump raisins.
Monkey Shoulder is a mix of three different Single Malts - Glenfiddich, Balvenie and Kininvie - and is great with mixers or just on its own. Smooth, sweet and very easy to drink. Super smooth, with zesty Orange meets mellow vanilla, honey and spiced oak; On the palate, it offers mellow vanilla with spicy hints.<
The Balvenie DoubleWood 12 year old single malt whisky gains its distinctive character from being matured in two wood types. To make The Balvenie DoubleWood, David Stewart MBE takes whisky that has spent at least 12 years in traditional whisky casks, American Oak ex-bourbon barrels and hogsheads, and moves it to Spanish oak ex-Oloroso sherry casks for an additional nine months. Smooth and mellow with beautifully combined flavours, nutty sweetness, cinnamon spiciness and a delicately proportioned layer of sherry.
This expression from Suntory's Yamazaki Distillery is a blend of various single malts that have aged in casks of American oak, Mizunara (Japanese oak), sherry oak, and French oak casks that previously held Bordeaux wine. Some peated single malt is also blended in. Classic Yamazaki strawberries and dried fruits with floral notes coming from the Mizunara cask whisky.

A classic Kentucky Bourbon: There are lovely notes of spiced honey and mixed peels, a little malmsey, hazelnut and a touch of cut fruit with toasty oak providing a backbone. Rich and full palate with notes of rye and spice, barley malt, a little nut oil with butterscotch and vanilla.
The Balvenie Single Barrel Sherry Cask has been matured exclusively in a single European oak sherry butt for at least 15 years. The term ‘Single Barrel’ conveys the unique nature of the single malt whisky, which has been drawn from a single cask of a single distillation. Limited by nature, each heavily toasted European oak Oloroso sherry butt will yield no more than 800 bottles of Scotch whisky.
The DoubleWood 17 year old is an elder sibling to DoubleWood 12 year old and shares its honeyed, spicy characteristics, but it is distinctly different, with deeper vanilla notes, hints of green apple, creamy toffee and a striking richness and complexity.
